There’s always a reason to wait.

  • The kids are too little.
  • You’re too busy.
  • Someone doesn’t like how they look right now.
  • Everyone needs to be a little less chaotic first.
  • Life just needs to calm down.

I hear it all the time. And honestly? I get it. I’ve said versions of it to myself too.

But here’s the thing — life doesn’t wait until the conditions are perfect. It just keeps going. The kids grow. The busy season becomes the next busy season. And the “someday, when things settle down” moment never actually arrives, because that’s not how life works.

There is never a perfect time. There’s only the time we choose.

Showing Up, Not Waiting

As a Burnaby photographer and family photographer in Burnaby, I used to think my job was about capturing those perfect moments. Now I know better, it’s about showing up for real ones.

The real moment isn’t the one where everyone’s hair is done and the toddler is smiling on cue and the house is calm.

The real moment is now: messy, busy, imperfect, and still yours.

When I sit with a family or a woman in front of my camera, I’m not waiting for perfect. I’m looking for true, their true, her real smile.

And true doesn’t ask permission to show up at a convenient time.

What Waiting Actually Costs

Every year you wait for “the right time” is a year those exact faces, that exact chapter, doesn’t exist anymore.

Your kids won’t be this age again. You won’t look, feel, or carry yourself exactly like this again!

For better or worse, this is a version of you that only exists right now.

Waiting doesn’t protect that. It just lets it pass by unrecorded.

Choosing the Time Anyway

So maybe it was never about timing. Maybe it was always about showing up!  With messy hair, work stress, kids mid-tantrum and all.

You don’t need less chaos to deserve being seen. You need someone who can find you inside the chaos and show you what’s actually there: connection, love, a life being lived, not staged.

And that’s exactly why a professional hair and makeup artist is part of the experience! So you can just show up and relax, and let someone else take care of the rest.

As a mom of two, I know exactly how busy modern women are. And when it comes to your photos, you deserve to just show up, be present, and actually enjoy the experience.

There’s never going to be a perfect time.

But there is this time. The one you’re in right now.

So, will you choose it?
