Here’s something I hear a lot when families are planning their session: “Should we do outdoor or studio?”

Honestly? There’s no right answer. But the location you pick changes everything about how the session feels.

For some families, being outdoors feels natural. Fresh air, a little movement, natural light doing all the work. For others, the studio offers something different: a calm, quiet space where we can slow down and focus completely on you and your people.

Both experiences are planned with just as much care. Both are guided by me, start to finish. The difference is in the atmosphere, the mood and the way we create your portraits.

The Outdoor Experience

There’s an ease to shooting outdoors that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. We walk, we explore, we let the landscape become part of your story.  We are so lucky with beautiful locations for photo sessions anywhere the in Vancouver, in Burnaby, in Tri-Cities.

Before we the photo session itself, we talk through what you’re picturing, choose the location, and figure out wardrobe together.

  • I carefully choose locations where the light and environment work in our favor.
  • I’ll also help you with outfits so that everything feels harmonious without looking overly coordinated.

Once we’re on-site, you don’t have to think about any of it! Where to stand, what to do with your hands, how to look “natural”. I guide you through the entire experience, giving you direction while leaving enough room for genuine moments to happen.

  The Studio Experience

The studio is a different kind of freedom.

  • No weather to worry about,
  • no background distractions,
  • no strangers wandering into frame.

Just clean, timeless portraits with gorgeous light and a more editorial feel.

It’s also just a break. A pause from the chaos of your regular week.

  • With hair and makeup,
  • thoughtful styling,
  • and guided posing,

You don’t need to know how to “be” in front of a camera. That’s what I’m there for.

What Both Experiences Have in Common

No matter where we shoot, you get the same level of care.

  • We start with a consultation to plan every detail.
  • I guide you through the whole session.
  • Your images get professionally retouched.
  • And afterward, we sit down together for a private ordering appointment where you’ll see everything and choose what you want to keep forever.

So, which one is Right for You?

Skip the “which location is prettier” question. And ask yourself instead, how do you want to feel during your session?

Do you imagine yourself moving through a beautiful outdoor location with your family, with kids running a little wild, on a beach or in the park?

Or do you picture a quiet studio, where everything is focused on you?

There is no wrong choice. There is simply the experience that feels most like you.
